much faster. This all considering that I am a healthy woman with children. Im
going to have to withdraw because if Im feeling effects than I must worry for
my children. Anonymous USA - Sunday, August 10, 2008 at 14:57:26 (EDT)
Thank
you for always looking out for the athletes from our company, it seems that none
of the reports from the Bay Area Air Quality Managment or the San Mateo Environmental
Health seem to be located any where for your readers. If you would like to post
the reports showing that the factory's air quality is in comliance from the environmental
agencys (Per BAAQM) and has no violations (Per San Mateo County Environmental
Health) please contact me. Erica Meitz San

you for your comment. Clean O2 For Kids is aware that Peterson Products is in
compliance with their industrial permit. Clean O2 For Kids, however, is
concerned with the appropriate levels of pollutants with respect to childrens
health. Please refer to the Health Risks page for the San Mateo County Environmental
Health air testing results, as well as the expert research available on the risks
of such chemical exposure exceeding what the CDC and ATSDR (Agency for Toxic Substances
and Disease Registry) advise as safe for children's health. This is the concern
and issue of the Clean O2 For Kids website - the factory, Peterson Products, is
working under their industrial permit and has a vastly different set of standards
than what is used to protect growing children. Respondent USA

I
take my two kids to San Mateo Gymnastics and walk from one gym to the other so
I have noticed the smell. Sometimes it's quite strong and I worry about the effect
it has on my kids (especially since they often have the gym roll-up doors open).
Thanks for the information. Helen USA

I
read your website, but I do not understand what kind of options you are proposing.
It is good to know, but it does not help if there is nothing you can do. Sarah USA

The
issue here is not the factory, which is regulated under industrial codes. The
issue is the kids' health that are protected under different standards and might
be subject to great harm. The hazards are in a different plane than the factory
workers. Please study the facts under the Health Risks page. Respondent

Keep
in mind mst of the guys who work there have been there for over 30 years and they
are not affected by any emissions. You would think if it is as such a health hazard
that some of them would have cancer, breathing problems, or other effects Howevere
the guys who have worked there these 30+ years seem to be as healty as someone
who works in an office on a computer all day. Truth be told you are more likely
to have health problems from you TV, Microwave, or that cell phone stuck to your
head. Everything in life causes the body to degrade it seems everything now a
days everything we come in contact with degrades our well being. Stop attacking
these companies just because Gymnasium no longer wanted to put up with your floresent
light mentality. Unknown San Carlos, CA USA - Thursday, September

It is more than
one place - it is a gymnastics club extending from Old County Rd. to Elmer Street
(San Mateo Gymnastics has been there around 30 years, Tumble Town addition added
recently), a kids facility across the street (opened recently), and homes right
next to the factory. Should all the residents move too? Why were such permits
even issued to mix such a high polluting factory with children and the general
public? It is not just any polluting factory - it is ranked 3rd most polluting
in 2002. Check the Factory Scorecard page - #11 on that list release is 550 pounds,
#19 release is 2 pounds- so it's not like they
are all up there polluting around 8,000 pounds. If everyone was saying it's not
my problem, then all the zones would end up mixing industrial with residential
and kids recreational. How would that be. It's
kind of like having the no smoking laws in the restaurants and airplanes, etc.
for reducing second-hand smoke - you don't say if you are scared of the risks
and health hazards from second-hand smoke leave when someone wants to smoke and
has decided to take the risk themsleves - plus like you may suffer more from the
second-hand smoke you are inhaling than the smoker, the children are at more risk
than adults for getting sick and ruining their growth and development and their
future health. Unknown USA - Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 05:48:14

Yeah I think that saving the kids is
good, but you have to keep in mind that the Factory has been there for years and
years. How many years have you guys been there? So if you think the kids are at
risk, just transfer to another place. Keep in mind that the Bay Area is full of
pollution; we live in an area were is over populated therefore brings a lot of
toxics in the air. In California it's a really hard task to find a clean toxic
free enviroment.
